Greek Tragedy Project (play write)
For the greek tragedy project we were required to write a two scene play on a social issue and a human flaw. Each group had two people, each person had the role of either writer or story border. The write was mostly in charge of writing the scenes and the chorus while the story boarder was required to draw set designs and draw backdrop images.
Our requirements were as follows:
-Prologue
-Parados
-Scene 1
-Chorus 1
-Scene 2
-Chorus 2
-Tri-fold board
The tri-fold board had to have all of our scene drawings and our Play summary on tit as well as a drawing of the background for our play.
Here is the summary of the play that me and my partner wrote:
Writer: Victor Lira
Storyboarder: Vincent schafer
Our play is about acceptance, racism and immigration. The human flaw we are focusing on is anger and the political issue is Immigration. We chose to do this just because there are a lot of immigrants in San Diego because we live so close to the border.
People have been immigrating to the United States for hundreds of years. Not just because they wanted to get away from the monarchy that most likely ruled their country but also because they might have wanted a fresh start, and who are we to deny it to them.
Our play plays in a city much like San Diego; it is set in present day and is supposed to seem like a persons day/story. This play is about two Mexican men who were born in the US after their parents came here illegally from Mexico and how they are treated by some people in the US. There is a scene with a racist cop and another one with a group of white men who team up on Edgar one of the main characters. There are also some nasty racist remarks made about Mexicans through out the whole play. We were trying to focus on what Mexicans feel when people make racist remarks at them or just play them down because of where they come from and why that really isn’t a very kind thing to do because they after all are people too. The main message we are trying to convey is that every one no matter where they come from deserves to be treated justly and deserves to be happy.

Reflection:
My partner and i collaborated very well on this project. We balanced the work load and helped each-other out when we needed help. Since i was the story boarder i did most of the work on the poster board but i contributed greatly to the play as well. I am very proud of the poster board because i put alot of time and effort into it.

Tri-fold:
Greek Play Production
After the class finished writing their separate scripts and assembling their tri-fold boards, the whole class voted on the best play. Victor and my play did not win, but the play that did win was called A World of Black and White witten by Evie and Karley, two of my fellow classmates.
The play was about two friends a white boy and a black girl who grow up in Africa. the girl really likes the boy but when he gets a girl friend she is devastated and becomes angry with him. while she is not talking to him he gets shot and dies during a black rights protest.
The play required a lot of time and work. Every person in the class had a job to do. Some were actors, costume designers, photographers, and others were sound and lighting technicians. My job was to market the play by making fliers and posters. My partner was Teta. We were both worked on separate fliers. My poster was for the play itself and Teta's poster was For the Greek play project exhibition.
A couple of weeks before the play was supposed to go on i was asked to take a role in the chorus. We rehearsed a lot and spent a lot of time getting our queues just right. But all of the hard work payed off eventually, because the play went off with out a hitch.
I am very proud of the work that i put in on the poster as well as the play because i worked very hard the whole time. While i was working on the poster i devoted hours to making it look good i believe i made at least 7 or 8 drafts before it was done. During the play i did my best to study my lines and help other people with theirs and i believe it payed off in the end because the play was great.
